New Year Nails | 2012 Glitter Nude with Revlon & Essie

Essie's 'Eternal Optimist'
Revlon's 'Sparkling'
Essie's 'Good to Go' Top Coat

I love that you can do 'nude' up ready for New Years Eve but acceptable for work in the days after!

I applied two coats of Essie's 'Eternal Optimist' which is a nude toned pink matte shade; as you can see it is definitely well loved! This is non streaky and is gives an opaque solid colour in two full coats. This looks especially understated on tanned skin tones and the rose pink compliments golden skin more than a completely nude colour would. If you smudge this step, don't worry as you can hide this with the glitter polish in the next step.

Once semi-dry, apply a glitter polish over the top. I chose to apply this just to my ring and baby finger (who wants one accent nail when you can have two!)

I recommend Revlon 'Sparkling' (above) which is a a sheer clear-pink shade with chunks of different sized rounded sparkles. Revlon nail polishes are excellent quality, never tacky and this glitter polish has great staying power. I love how the larger pieces look like droplets of water when they catch the light. This can be applied as heavily as you want, depending on the look.

Lastly, apply two coats of a super shiny clear top coat such as Essie 'Good to Go'. Make sure you really let this all dry well so the glitter doesn't move around.

Keep nail polish remover and cotton buds at bay to tidy up & ensure your cuticles don't let the look down by applying an oil rather than a cream, which can take away the lovely shine from the top coat. I swear by Sally Hansen's Cuticle Pen for on the go touch ups.
Happy New Year! Here's you have a positive end to 2012 and a beautiful start to 2013!

What nail trends will you be seeing into 2013?
